You know spring has sprung when the fragrance of jonquils is heavy in the air. Tulips are putting on a delightful show still and things are getting exciting with the flowering blossom branches stopping people in their tracks. Rhododendron brings some welcome colour and we keep our eyes out for the elusive Lily of the Valley and for when that first bunch of Peonies come in.

Summer is time for colour. Vibrant lissianthus, calla lilies and hydrangea explode onto the scene. Fragrance is in abundance with heavenly Gardenia and frangipani becoming available. Perfumed field roses and stunning David Austin roses are flourishing with exotic tropical flowers proving to be long lasting with the warmer days.

The days are getting shorter and flowers remind us that there is still sunshine around and colour to be seen. Tulips are popping up, joined by fragrant hyacinths, playful freesias and, of course, sweet pea. The beginning of Autumn still features some late summer blooms such as hydrangea as it changes in colour from week to week and we are reminded that Mother’s day is just around the corner with a dazzling display of chrysanthemums coming into market.

Winter is such a stunning time of year, offering a wide array of flowers. Featuring dramatic pieces such as leichen branches, pussy willow and magnolia branches, complimented by long lasting cymbidium orchids, delicate helibore roses, and cheerful ranunculas. We are very fortunate in Australia, with our seasons being less distinct compared to the northern hemisphere, we enjoy many flowers for a much longer time than their token season. For example spring bulbs (tulips, hyacinths etc) start as early as autumn.
